RESPONSIBILITIES: Brightpoint Community College is seeking a creative, dynamic, high energy addition to the Student Engagement Team. The successful candidate will engage with prospective students, create and maintain effective long-term relationships with high school counselors, teachers, and administrators in order to create opportunities for students to achieve their educational goals at Brightpoint. They will collaborate with Brightpoint leadership in the execution of recruiting strategies. The successful candidate will manage prospective student events on- and off-campus, including local high schools, job fairs, business events, and at community gatherings. They will communicate information to all stakeholders through text, telephone, email, Zoom, presentations, and other methods. They will use data to assess recruitment program effectiveness. They will assist students with the college admission and onboarding processes which includes completing the FAFSA and college application. The candidate will explain third-party billing, admissions steps, work-study programs, and scholarship opportunities. The successful candidate will ensure prospective students are successfully transitioned to a Brightpoint Navigator, who will then work with the student from application to the first day of class.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A successful candidate must have excellent writing, communication, time management, and organizational skills required. They must have the ability to inspire future Brightpoint students in their career and educational goals. They will work at both of the College’s campuses and travel within the entire college’s service region. The successful candidate will need to work a flexible schedule that includes some evenings during high peak seasons. They should be able to demonstrate the aptitude to use technology to track student progression, support proactive student communication, and present information to students virtually and face-to-face. They will work with and cultivate relationships with high school students, parents, and high school staff. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check will be required. High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience working in educational recruiting, event planning, or presenting to large audiences. Demonstrate the aptitude to use technology to track student progression, support proactive student communication, and present information to student virtually and face-to-face. Experience in planning, organizing, and marketing projects/events. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent is strongly preferred.
*All full-time classified employees new to the Commonwealth of Virginia will serve a 12-month probationary period.
